Before each of our exterior painting jobs, we wash the structure to create a smooth surface to ensure maximum paint adhesion. A thorough wash is a must! Painting over accumulated dirt and mildew prevents ideal application and leads to peeling paint much quicker. Proper surface preparation allows Flying Colors Paint to achieve its mission of providing customers with the best, longest-lasting paint around.

House Washing Process

1. Make a Plan
   Our team will walk you through the entire home wash process. We will discuss the condition of your home and any areas we might need to be aware of. We will go over accessibility issues such as removing portable items, hard-to-reach spaces, or pets.
2. Prep Our Tools
   Flying Colors Paint uses specialized tools to complete this important home maintenance project. Our washing equipment includes a water tank we use to mix our washing formula, which we affectionately call the Juice Box.
   Our go-to cleaning solutions include soap, bleach, and Trisodium Phosphate, TSP. TSP is a common commercial cleaning agent, ideal for degreasing and removing mold and mildew. Safe to use with caution, our team is trained to avoid its potential hazards, such as prolonged skin contact or excessive run-off.
   We will also set up equipment for safe accessibility, which can include ladders, scaffolding, roof brackets, and harnesses.
3. Wash
   We will use the Juice Box, hoses, and a minimally-pressurized wash gun to wash each side of your home. As we begin on the first side, we only apply enough cleaning solution to wash small sections before it dries. We spray from the ground up, so the solution doesn’t dirty the siding as it drips down.
   If your home or building is extra dirty, we will scrub the surface while the solution is on. If not, we let the solution sit for 10 minutes for optimal cleaning potency.
4. Rinse
   After our cleaning solution has penetrated the dirt and stains, we use clean water to rinse and remove any remaining cleaner. We will complete the first pass of each side of the structure before we move on.
5. Repeat
   After the initial wash of the building, we do another pass on each side to catch any remaining stubborn dirt or stains.
6. Final Rinse
   Once we’re done, we give everything a light rinse before cleaning up. We take special precautions to avoid any potential damage to your building or property and guarantee that our team will leave things in better condition than we found them!
